Starting at the tippy-top which is about 40 feet high, the
crew begins the tedious task of removing each beam and rafter, one by one,
being careful not to upset the integrity
of the structure. The process is very
precise. To aid in the reconstruction
process, each piece of wood that comes down is tagged to identify its
position.
The entire structure is loaded onto a flatbed trailer for
transport to our facility. Once she
arrives at our warehouse, we stand her up to be sure everything is in order.
Then we give her a power wash and treat for any infestation. After that, down she comes again! We re-load her, and off she goes to her new
home at Cloudland Station.
The excitement builds as she makes the last leg of her
journey. Contractors and architects alike
have collaborated with John Tatum and Steve over the past few months as they carefully
planned for her arrival. It was almost
as if they were expecting a baby!
Follow us as we re-erect this gorgeous piece and transform her into a celebration barn. Soon I will be blogging in real-time, and following the interior designing process.
You can own a piece of history. We have everything from floors to rafters and everything in-between. We have several timber frames and antique cabins as well.
Call Steve, he is always in the mood to talk about wood! 855.676.4220.
What a great story! :)
